Ocient is a hyperscale data analytics software company headquartered in Chicago, IL, enabling organizations to analyze trillions to quadrillions of data records in seconds. Over the past five years, Ocient has built a SQL compliant data warehouse for Petabyte and beyond datasets that is 10x to 50x times faster than competitive OLAP databases.

 

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect with an active TS/SCI Full Scope Poly and an existing Green Badge to support our U.S. Intelligence Community programs. This role will be embedded within a customer environment, working closely with mission teams, systems integrators, and Ocient engineering to design, prototype, and deploy mission-aligned data analytics solutions.

      Core Skills: 

 

            Technical -  

·       Advanced SQL expertise 

·       Experience with ANSI SQL, query optimization, indexing strategies, and working with large datasets. 

·       Big Data & Distributed Systems 

·       Familiarity with platforms like Hadoop, Spark, Snowflake, Teradata, or Netezza (bonus if experience in high-performance OLAP systems). 

·       Cloud & Hybrid Deployments 

·       AWS, Azure Government, C2S/ICGovCloud deployment knowledge. 

·       Understanding of security compliance for classified workloads. 

·       Data Integration & ETL/ELT 

·       Experience with ingest pipelines, and real-time/near-real-time data availability. 

·       Geospatial & ML/AI Integration (Preferred) 

·       Exposure to geospatial data analytics and embedded ML workflows. 

·       Networking & Cyber Data Flows (Preferred) 

·       Understanding of packet capture, NetFlow, and large-scale network metadata analysis. 

 

      Mission Understanding -  

·       Strong grasp of IC mission needs and how data analytics platforms integrate with existing mission systems. 

·       Knowledge of DoD/IC acquisition processes and program lifecycles. 

·       Understanding of security controls, releasability rules, and cross-domain data challenges. 

·       Understand how to size and scope a deployment for government missions. 

·       Translate mission problems into Ocient solutions (e.g., geospatial intelligence queries in seconds instead of hours). 

·       Confidently guide a program from concept → POC → operational deployment. 

·       Serve as the trusted in-the-room technical advocate when Ocient isn’t physically onsite. 

 

Responsibilities:

·       Serve as technical lead for Ocient engagements within the IC customer environment. 

·       Partner with mission owners, analysts, and integrators to map mission requirements to Ocient capabilities. 

·       Architect and deploy hyperscale analytics solutions leveraging Ocient’s distributed SQL engine, geospatial capabilities, and embedded machine learning features. 

·       Lead proof-of-concept (POC) deployments, data ingestion pipelines, and performance benchmarking. 

·       Provide technical briefings and whiteboard sessions to both technical and executive-level audiences. 

·       Work with Ocient’s engineering and product teams to relay mission feedback and influence platform enhancements. 

·       Maintain awareness of DoD/IC programs, acquisition cycles, and upcoming opportunities relevant to Ocient’s capabilities. 

 

Qualifications:

·       US Citizen with active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph and current Green Badge (IC customer access). 

·       Ability to hold and maintain a position of public trust with the US Government.  

·       Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience). 

·       10+ years of experience in solutions architecture, systems engineering, or technical consulting. 

·       Expertise in SQL (ANSI SQL preferred) and query optimization. 

·       Experience with big data / distributed systems (Hadoop, Spark, Netezza, Teradata, Snowflake, or similar). 

·       Understanding of data ingestion, ETL/ELT pipelines, and streaming/real-time data processing. 

·       Experience with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or C2S/ICGovCloud deployments. 

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly. 

·       Hands-on experience deploying analytics solutions within IC/DoD secure environments. 

·       Familiarity with mission-specific data types, formats, and workflows used by NGA, NSA, NRO, DIA, or other IC agencies. 

·       Understanding of high availability and zero-copy reliability architectures. 

·       Roughly 30% travel expected.

 

Ideal Applicant: 

·       Experience with vector-based geospatial data processing and analytics 

·       Experience with machine learning lifecycle implementations 

·       Experience with cyber anomaly detection, deep packet analysis, or threat hunting
