Ocient is a hyperscale data solutions company headquartered in Chicago, IL, enabling organizations to analyze trillions to quadrillions of data records in seconds. Over the past five years, Ocient has built a SQL compliant data warehouse for Petabyte and beyond datasets that is 10x to 50x times faster than competitive OLAP databases.
Position Overview:
Ocient is searching for an experienced UX Designer with an eye for design, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for creating compelling user experiences for highly technical users. This person will take on complex projects and lead strategic design initiatives. They will create user-centric solutions that align with business goals through research, prototypes, and monitoring the end-to-end user experience. This person is a strong communicator and will work closely with multiple business units to align design with product vision and implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional team, including product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver compelling user experiences.
- Design user flows, wireframes, and prototypes that simplify complex workflows.
- Develop polished, high-fidelity visual designs that align with our brand, with a focus on clarity, scalability, accessibility, and ease of use.
- Collaborate closely with developers to ensure design accuracy and seamless implementation.
- Plan and conduct usability testing to validate design decisions, incorporating user feedback to refine and improve experiences.
- Effectively communicate design rationale to stakeholders, aligning designs with user needs and business goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Designer, delivering high-quality digital experiences for enterprise software.
- Expertise with design tools such as Figma.
- Expertise in creating both visual and interaction design specifications.
- Strategic product thinking with a strong ability to translate complex concepts into simple, user-centered solutions.
- Evidence of a robust design process, including user research, wireframes, interaction design, and annotated high-fidelity prototypes.
- Proactive self-starter capable of independently driving projects forward, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines in a remote-first environment.
- Strong communication skills and collaboration.
- A portfolio of previous work
- Ability to speak and write in English fluently.
An ideal candidate will have:
- Experience designing for complex data analytics software.
- Experience with cloud and on-premise enterprise software.
- Strong understanding of product development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic front-end development principles.
