Estimated salary range: 

           Base Salary: $80,000 

           On-target Earnings: $100,000,  80% Base/ 20% Commission

  • The salary offered for this position will be based on a candidate’s experience and skill demonstrated during interviews and other evaluations

Overview

As a Business Development Representative at Ocient, you will be responsible for researching, contacting, and qualifying potential opportunities for Ocient. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter and confident in their lead generation abilities to research and build out new and existing accounts through rigorous outbound calling, social selling, and email campaigns. 

The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, take initiative, get creative, and amplify your successes by sharing your findings with your team is a must.

We’re looking for professionals with strong organizational and follow up skills who work well in a team environment. 

Responsibilities

  • Report to Director of Growth Marketing & Business Development, but work closely with other department members and Account Executives.
  • Exceed provided qualified meetings, opportunity and bookings quota defined in your individual compensation plan. 
  • Demonstrate highly professional interactions with potential customers as their first introduction to Ocient.
  • Research accounts and contacts for tradeshows, marketing, and business development campaigns, etc. using Ocient’s BDR tech stack including Salesforce CRM, HubSpot, SalesLoft, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, SalesIntel, etc.
  • Research accounts, identify key players, created targeted and personalized communication to generate interest in Ocient.
  • Create and maintain a targeted account strategy for assigned territories and targets.
  • Identify customer pain points using Ocient’s lead qualification criteria and assess needs against Ocient’s capabilities. 
  • Perform a balance of cold calling, email sequencing and LinkedIn outreach. 
  • Participate in internal meetings with sales, marketing, product and more to ensure cross collaboration, aligned goals and stay abreast of company initiatives and updates.
  • Clean and accurate reporting of activities, meetings booked and notes in Salesforce CRM. 
  • Continually develop personal selling skills, acquire industry knowledge, and broaden expertise in Ocient’s offerings.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field preferred: Business Administration (Sales, Management, Marketing); Information Technology; Cloud; AI/ML, Data Warehouses/Databases.
  • 1-2 years in technology/software Business Development or Sales, ideally within databases and/or data warehouses.
  • CRM (Salesforce/HubSpot) and sales engagement platform (Outreach, SalesLoft) experience preferred.
  • Excellent listening and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to follow directions carefully. 
  • Ability to nurture professional relationships as well as work cross-collaboratively internally.
